The Tamarack Jacket by Grainline Studio has become a popular favourite this year since a similar style was featured on the Great British Sewing Bee.  This versatile style can be made using a pre-quilted fabric, or you can make your own quilted or even patchwork fabric; the styling options are endless.  This simple, boxy style is bound around the edge and features welt or patch pockets.  You can also add snap fastenings or a hook and eye finish.

'Tamarack' Jacket by Grainline Studio paper sewing pattern and instructions.

Difficulty : Intermediate

Sizes :  US 14 - 30 (Bust 40" - 56")

Fabric Suggestions :

There are three options:

1. Use a pre quilted fabric.

2. Make your own quilted fabric - Use a mid to light weight woven for the outer, such as a chambray or linen for example.  For the interfacing, use a quality batting or wadding.  For the lining use a printed cotton.

3.  You can also make your own patchwork fabric by cutting squares from a combination of fabrics and quilting them together to create your own unique design.

See the pattern envelope for more details.

You will also need :

5m - 6m x 20mm binding, or fabric to make your own binding.

Quality Sew-All Thread - Add extra if you are quilting your own fabric.

4 x 15mm Anorak Snaps, or 5 x Hooks & Eyes

A piece of Interfacing (only if making your own quilted fabric)

Fabric for your pocket bags (if using pre-quilted fabric).

See the pattern envelope for detailed supplies list.
